Emergency Exits
Award-winning project granted by the National Photographic Library of Cuba
— January 29, 2015. Havana, Cuba
Emergency exits is a photographic response to pain. Is an introspective exercise of healing through alienation. I photograph the Cuban architecture as it is, turn it into a photographic document, and without photomontages or artifices, I transfigure it into poetry.
I contradict the established gaze to build new symbols. Discourse on conflicts and chimeras of the contemporary Cuban society, and about my own story as part of it.
The series is itself an exercise of visual heterodoxy and relief. It is a search for new possibilities of belonging, and therefore, of being.
I discourse on conflicts and chimeras of the contemporary Cuban society, and about my own story as part of it.
